In this iterative participate process that contributes to the sustainable development goal number 15 (SDG#15), we first use botanical surveys to estimate the pollen/nectar plants available to the bees. Now we are screening the permanent survey transects and the artificial nests to determine the bee species that the site host. The social bee nests (hives) and the artificial solitary bees nests will be secured at the site and the community will be trained on the management of the apiaries and solitary bee bank for:
- improving the pollination services around the site;
- improving the livelihood of the community through beekeeping and tourism
- serving as a sustainable mitigation system against the social bees that establish at offices, containers and other dangerous facilities at the quarry;
- creating a lasting research site on the bees at the quarry of Fongba for the scientific community.
